After the death of my beloved family member, decisions needed to be made quickly regarding their home. I knew I needed to sell it, but I was completely against selling the home to an “investor”. It was a family home, with generations having lived there. I felt like it would be a cold and uncaring experience where I could potentially be ripped off. I had (and still have) a very emotional attachment to the home. However, I was also realistic enough to understand that time was of the essence as there were multiple beneficiaries awaiting their inheritance and the cost of keeping the home for any significant time would be prohibitive as I live on the west coast and am not exactly in a position to keep a second home, especially in New York State. I decided to allow some investors to come and look at the home, all of which either trash-talked the house or sounded like used car salesmen, acting evasively about what their offer would actually be. I was almost certain I would place the house on the MLS until I called Peter at LI Houses Wanted. Peter was completely professional at our first meeting. He did not complain about the condition of the home (less than ideal) and did not apply pressure about what I thought the house should be worth. He was kind and understanding of my recent loss, showing the utmost respect to the fact I was still grieving, which was important to me. He quickly sent an offer, which was amazingly fair. I am close friends with a successful real estate attorney on Long Island (who was preparing to list the home on the MLS) and he was extremely impressed with the offer, as well. Peter introduced me to his fellow investors and they were an amazing group of people (normal, salt of the earth people) who really had appreciation for the home and fixing up homes. They had a vision for how they would restore it to its former glory, which excited me. They even offered to let me see it when it’s done! I hope to go back and see what they’ve done with it after completion as I know that my loved one would be thrilled to see it restored and modernized/improved. I feel excited for what they will accomplish! The process was incredibly easy and smooth. Peter was communicative and understanding and always respectful, never applying undue pressure. He always desired to make the process as easy as possible for me. The whole experience was about a fair transaction, done professionally and honestly. And quickly! I cannot recommend Peter and his group enough and if you find yourself needing to sell a home quickly, especially if it’s an emotional experience for you, LI Houses Wanted will treat you fairly, with great respect, and will treat your home (or your loved ones home) as it deserves to be treated. I never leave reviews for anything, and I certainly didn’t expect to leave such a long review, but truly want you to know how excellent my experience was!
